5.3 The Replacement

Summary: A demon Toth tries to destroy Buffy, but is unsuccessful. Instead, he splits Xander into two bodies, each with a different side of his personality. As each one tries to convince his friends that he is the real Xander, Buffy must find a way to put the Xanders back together.

Summary: When Tara’s family unexpectedly arrives in Sunnydale, they threaten to reveal a secret that Tara is desperate to hide. Meanwhile, Buffy and Giles try to discover the evil that is plaguing the Summer’s house.

Summary: Buffy and Dawn help their mother to prepare for brain surgery. When Ick, an extra-terrestrial demon lands on Earth, he terrorises Sunnydale and the Summers’ house

Summary: Buffy must act as the authority figure for Dawn now that their mom is gone. Meanwhile, Buffy fears that Glory is closer to discovering the key when she takes one of Buffy’s friends hostage.

5.20 Spiral

Summary: Buffy and the gang go on the run after Glory discovers that Dawn is the key. Escaping Sunnydale, the gang battles the Knights of Byzantium. Soon Buffy learns the secret behind Glory and the key.

5.21 The Weight of the World

Summary: While Buffy’s friends argue about how they can help her, Willow takes charge and casts a spell to enter Buffy’s mind. Meanwhile, Glory starts to feel guilty for what she has to do to Dawn.

5.22 The Gift

Summary: Glory’s plan opens the dimensional gate, putting Dawn in jeopardy. Buffy makes the ultimate sacrifice, choosing between her own life and the life of a loved one.
